The trend that took over TikTok this summer is how to become That Girl. What does it mean to be That Girl?
It means to become your best self, a healthier and more productive version.
After the first year of the pandemic, many people wanted to start feeling more productive again after having no motivation.
This lifestyle was always there before, but now it has turned into a trend because more people want to try it. And that’s why you’re here, right? You want to become more productive and healthy?
The downside of this trend is when people glamorized it too much that they became insecure about their own productive routines and that they are not aesthetic enough like the women on TikTok.
This article is not about your physical appearance or Pinterest-worthy aesthetics, but creating a life where you feel more refreshed and develop healthier habits.
You don’t have to wake up at 5 AM, work out for 30 minutes at the gym, drink green smoothies every morning, and eat avocado toast.
You become your own version of ‘That Girl’ and romanticize your life. If you prefer to wake up at 10 a.m., then wake up at 10 a.m.
The whole point is to take better care of yourself. We all have unhealthy habits that make us feel bad about ourselves.

Wake up at the same time everyday
If you’re going to sleep at 12 AM and then go to sleep at 3:30 AM the next night, you are going to feel extra tired and lazier throughout the day. It’s so important to have consistent sleep so you can wake up and stick to the routine that you set.
The best way to do this is to set an alarm to remind you to turn off all electronic devices and dim the lights so your body starts relaxing. All the bright lights will keep you up longer.
Open the blinds and let the light in
It’s hard to feel awake in a dark room. That’s why opening your blinds should be the first thing you do. If you want to go a step further, open your window to hear the birds chirp and let the summer air in.
Light will boost your mood, so open as many blinds as you can wherever you go in your house.
Drink water & stretch
When you wake up, have all the items you want by your bedside. For example, have a cup of water to drink immediately when you wake up.
A lot of people don’t drink enough water during the day, so you want to make sure you start with it as soon as you wake up.
After drinking your water, it’s time to stretch and let your body get adjusted to the lighting and waking up. Look up some tutorials on how to stretch to improve your posture.
If you have a hard time drinking enough water, you can use a reusable water bottle with a time marker to remind yourself that you have to drink a certain amount of water by a certain time.
Pray or Meditate
Start your day off right with prayer or meditation. Let all your stressors drift away so you can focus on the top things you have to get done in the day later on.
To build a healthier routine and stay consistent, you have to challenge toxic mindsets and clear them out. Have a list of things that make you happy and that you are thankful for to meditate on.
The meditation app that I like to use is Calm.
Set Goals
When you set goals, you are more likely to remember what you want to accomplish and have the motivation to achieve them. Set realistic goals that you can actually achieve and make you motivated to act now.
Break down all the small tasks that you can do starting today to eventually achieve the big goal.
Then write down how you will measure your success, keep yourself accountable, and how you will reward yourself for every small task achieved.
Make sure to review if you achieved your tasks at the end of the day or week to hold yourself accountable. Set your own goals on how to become that girl.
Journal or Read
The next thing to have on your bedside table is your journal and/or a book. You can journal your thoughts and write about whatever is stressing you out.
Journaling is a great stress reliever. Once you have written about it, let those stressors stay in the book and focus on the things that you can control in your daily life.
One of the best journals currently on trend is The Five-Minute Journal where you can quickly jot down things that you are grateful for, daily affirmations, and what happened during your day. If you’re not one to spend a lot of time journaling, this is great to keep track of your daily life.
Pick up an inspirational book to encourage you throughout the day. Or you can even read a non-fiction book that teaches you a new skill.

Make a healthy breakfast & eat vitamins
Your breakfast doesn’t have to be aesthetic. Focus on what nutrients your body needs. Do you need more iron, protein, or calcium?
Choose recipes that boost your energy, immune system, and provides you the nutrients that you are lacking. Don’t focus on becoming skinny. All that matters is eating healthy.
Healthy Food & Drink Ideas:
- Protein smoothie
- Oatmeal w/ fruit
- Lemon & ginger water
- Fruit salad
- Acai Smoothie Bowl
Eat daily vitamins to get the rest of the nutrients that you need to feel energized.
Exercise & Play Music
Go for a walk or jog, go to the gym, or do cardio at home. Whatever exercise routine you feel you need, be consistent with it.
Set goals of what you want to achieve when it comes to exercising. Add your favorite music to your workout routine.
A lot of people play LoFi or upbeat music in the mornings to feel more productive.
Take a shower and get ready for the day
When you take a shower, have a routine that makes you feel pampered. That could be a body scrub to exfoliate your skin or lather on your favorite body wash.
Do your simple skincare routine, brush your teeth, do your hair, and get dressed for the day. Having all your items out and prepped in a specific, easy-to-access area will help you move faster.
Have your outfit chosen the night before so you don’t have to stress about it when you wake up.
Look in the mirror and appreciate who you are
If you’re constantly on social media, you probably compare your body to other women. Appreciate the body that you do have because you are unique and beautiful.
You need to start giving yourself more compliments every day. Personally, I used to be in a place where I always compared and didn’t think I was beautiful.
I had to constantly keep telling myself I was and focus on my best features to actually become confident.
Tidy your house & add pleasant scents
A messy home leads to feeling more unproductive for the rest of the day. If you have to study or work in a mess, it’s hard to stay focused.
Most people hate cleaning, so the better option is to get in the habit of cleaning your small messes before they become big ones.
Air out the house when using cleaning products and add some nice scents or light candles to boost your mood.

The Process for Creating a Consistent and Simple Routine
To keep your That Girl routine, you have to make it super simple that you can easily follow it. Don’t make it elaborate and try to make it very aesthetic when you know you’re not that type of person.
Log in your daily journal what works in your routine and doesn’t work. Switch around your schedule to make it easier for you to complete it.
Create a small reward system for every time you complete your routines. You’re more likely to retain a habit if you reward yourself.
Final Thoughts
This morning routine is just to give you some ideas on how to become That Girl. Take what you want to do and leave what you don’t want to do.
It’s whatever helps you feel more productive. It’s okay to get off track some mornings, we aren’t perfect beings.
After studying That Girl trend, I didn’t think it was that toxic. It only becomes toxic when we hold a perfect routine as what we should be doing every day to be more productive and healthy when that’s not realistic.
