How to Become That Girl: Self Care Evening Routine

Spread the love

After trying to be more productive and healthy earlier in the day, it’s time for you to chill and relax at the end of the day. To become That Girl, you need to know how to take care of yourself even if that means just 10 mins per day.

Avoid falling down the rabbit hole of comparisons and pick and choose your own schedule! Here are just a few ideas you can add to your routine if you want.

What does it mean to be That Girl?

It means creating your own version of what it means to be healthier and more productive. Even if you just do one healthier thing today like switching out soda for water, you’re still moving forward.

You don’t have to follow the trends on social media.

Keep your work separate from your evening routine

It will be hard for you to relax at the end of the day and go to bed on time if you’re stressing over work. Schedule work time and self-care time in different blocks.

If you’re working from home, this will be especially hard. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my blog, so I understand the struggle.

Sometimes you got to tell yourself that you did all you can today and can finish the rest tomorrow.

Make dinner

For lazy days, have go-to dinners that you know how to make. If you have a favorite dish, keep making it until you get really good at it.

If you want to go a step further, you can meal prep ahead of time for the week so you can just pull your dinner out of the fridge during the weekdays.

A lot of people don’t like to cook because they don’t know how to. This is when it’s great to learn recipes that you can make in 30 mins or less with as few ingredients as possible.

Light the candles and dim the lights

Create a relaxing atmosphere with candles, himalayan salt lamps, or some other dim lights. All of the bright lights will make it hard for you to fall asleep faster.

There’s just something so comforting about having candles on days that are difficult.

Turn off your phone’s notifications

Get off of social media and silence your phone so you can relax in the hour before you go to sleep. You’ll waste hours of time if you stay glued to your phone in the evenings.

The best way to prioritize your self care is to limit the amount of time you use your phone.

Play some chill music

I always would play Spa and nature sounds whenever I took a bath. It makes you feel like you are in another place for cheap when you do self care for all of your senses.

You can find some relaxing playlists on YouTube or a music app.

Take a relaxing bath

Add whatever makes you feel calm during your baths. For me, I like to add bath bombs, candles, bubbles, essential oils, and exfoliator.

I’m so extra. But it’s really nice to treat yourself every once in a while. You deserve it!

Here is the best place to use all your senses. Eat your favorite dessert, play some music, watch your favorite TV show, etc.

Do your skincare routine

The evenings are my favorite time to use a sheet mask while watching Korean dramas. I have acne-prone skin and I find my skin likes charcoal the most.

Charcoal sheet masks and the dead sea mud mask are my favorites.

It’s so important to wash your face well in the evenings, especially if you have acne-prone skin. Try to make your skin routine as simple as possible if all you want to do is go to sleep.

Read a book

It’s always great to read a little bit per day even if it’s just 15 minutes. Pick 3 books from the bookstore or your home and stack them on your bedside table.

A lot of wealthy people make it a habit to read during some part of their day and I think the best time to do this is in the evenings when things are slow and you have more time.

Journal and plan for tomorrow

One of the best and most used journals for this trend is The Five-Minute Journal. If you don’t have a lot of time to write, this journal would be great to just spend a few minutes reflecting on your day.

It includes daily affirmations. You can use this in both your morning and evening routine.

Journaling is a great time to process your emotions and remember what you felt two weeks ago. It can show you the challenges you overcame and just how strong you are.

You can also write yourself little love letters.

Get a good night’s rest

It’s recommended to get 8 hours of sleep on average, but get enough rest until you don’t feel tired. This means sleeping with your phone far away from you so you’re not up late at night watching TikTok or texting your friends.

Just tell yourself you will get to your tasks tomorrow. Put your needs first.

What’s your favorite things to do to relax in the evenings?
