Glowing up is a lifelong process of becoming your best self and that doesn’t even have to be about beauty. You can glow up in your confidence after being insecure about your body without changing anything.
The foundation of glowing up is not about how you improve your appearance, but how you improve your mindset and confidence. Confidence is beautiful, Queen!

What a lot of influencers don’t focus on is the mental glow up. This must be done to have a realistic glow up. A glow up only focused on beauty is only a “temporary glow up”.
1. Stop viewing yourself the way others view you
Haters are going to hate. If it’s what make you happy, all the matters is that you feel good. As long as you aren’t engaging in toxic habits, you are fine.
You need to develop a mindset where people don’t have control over who you are and dictate what you should do with your life. You need to make your own decisions.
Only listen to people that give great advice that you find valuable. If someone is criticizing you and they have toxic traits themselves, keep it pushing.
2. Keep investing in your knowledge after college or high school
After high school and college can be the perfect time to glow up in your 20s because you have more time to focus on yourself and not school!
What’s something you always wanted to learn but couldn’t because most of your time was dedicated to writing essays, reading required textbooks, and studying for exams? This is your time to actually read things that you want to try.
Take courses in something completely different and explore your options. You don’t have to do one thing your whole life. Explore and have fun!
3. Start Working on Your Confidence
You have to start working on your confidence and create your vision on the kind of person that you want to be. Start saying “I am that girl” even when you feel like you aren’t.
If you’re working on yourself everyday and speaking positively to yourself, it’s going to work. You might have often heard “fake it until you make it”.
So keep saying “I am beautiful. I am confident. I am worth it.”

4. Follow your own timeline, not someone else’s
People go through different phases of life at different times. It’s okay if you don’t have a “dream job” and you’re still trying to find out what you want to do for your career.
It’s okay if all your friends are in relationships or getting engaged, but you’re still waiting to find someone to be in a long-term partnership with.
Everyone is in different seasons of life and there might be some things that you have that people wish they had.
So don’t pressure yourself to have a certain career, be married, have kids, buy a house, or build a certain amount of wealth by a specific age.
I pressured myself to attain things by certain ages. Like I wanted to be married by 32. I’m 28 and I have never dated. I wanted to buy a house by 30 on my own.
I have less than 2 years left. I got fired from my job for the first time in 2023 and used all my emergency savings while trying to figure out what’s next in my career as I leave a career path I’m no longer interested in.
Life changes so fast. What you want in life changes. You can’t put a timeline on it.
When you let go of society’s expectations, you will feel more free.
5. Get in the habit of journaling and making weekly goals
Someone with goals is more likely to succeed than someone without them. If you have no idea what you want to achieve, then how are you going to keep yourself accountable?
You have to start making big and small goals and start making a weekly list of how you will get there. Try S.M.A.R.T. goals as it breaks down your goals even further to make it more realistic and actionable.

Beauty comes after building a strong foundation if you want to glow up in your 20s.
6. Have a consistent skincare routine that fits your skin type

7. Start working out every day for 30 minutes
An important part of glowing up is working on your health. If you do this while you are young, you’ll look and feel better when you are older.
You can prevent many health issues in the future so it’s not just about improving your appearance.
You should exercise for a whole transformation at it also decreases your stress which will help prevent depression and wrinkles.

8. Use anti-aging products to prevent wrinkles
It’s never too early to start preventing wrinkles. Start taking care of your skin now in your 20s. There are many ingredients that prevent wrinkles from developing fast.
Look for these ingredients to prevent wrinkles:
- Vitamin C
- Retinoids
- Niacinamide
- Tea extracts
- Coenzyme Q10
- Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs)
- Peptides
9. Use products that don’t damage your hair
If you suffer from extremely dry hair, you might want to try out a Satin Pillow Case. When you use a Satin pillow case, it helps to prevent your hair from drying out too fast compared to a cotton pillow case. It also helps to prevent wrinkles.
10. Improve your diet to improve everything else too
Taking care of your inner health is good for your outer health and appearance. What you eat shows in the quality of your skin, hair, eyes, and more.
You should make sure you are getting enough fruits, vegetables, and water. Check which nutrients you don’t get enough of by making a doctor appointment to check lab results. For example, I learned that I wasn’t getting enough iron as many women struggle with.
To get more iron, one would need to start looking for foods to include in their daily diet that has a lot more iron. So that would be things like red meat, leafy green vegetables, eggs and more.
You should also be taking daily vitamins because we can’t always be so sure we’re getting our daily nutrients. By taking vitamins, you are increasing your chances of getting the small nutrients that you forgot about like Zinc, Folic Acid, and Magnesium.
