More young people need to know how to manage their finances well. Yes, some of us may know how to budget and save, but do you know how to invest? Do you have a diversified portfolio? It’s not enough to have all your money in your checking and savings. They don’t teach these skills in school so you’ll have to make the extra effort to learn them!

This is a great starter book for beginner investors. It is so worth it to invest in your financial education. It goes in-depth about words you don’t commonly hear in school like mortgage-backed securities, mutual funds, and health savings accounts.

Think about it in the long-run, the more you know how to move your money to make it grow, the more potential profits you can gain. So pick up some books and subscribe to some financial websites. Get the learning!

Skincare:

The Little Book of Skin Care

This book tells you the secrets of the Korean beauty skincare routine! I have been obsessed since I started watching Korean dramas and seeing all the actors and actresses have such soft, youthful looking skin. I have never been big on makeup like other women, but I have used tons of Korean skincare products over the years.

Hands down charcoal works wonders on brightening the skin and minimizing blackheads. I had no idea that a double cleanse (oil and water based cleansers) is super important to a skincare routine too. My skincare routine consisted of proactiv as a teenager which didn’t help my dry skin at all.

I did a regular face wash, toner and then a moisturizer. The skin needs way more than that. You’re not supposed to just slap random products on your skin and call it a day. You have to be strategic on your routine and look at the ingredients in your products.

Certain products don’t work for your skin type. The more you learn about your skin, the more it will improve. This is one of the best books for a full glow up in the skincare area. I haven’t really seen any other skincare books in my daily life.

Aliza Licht gives great recommendations on navigating your first job. I used this book for my first job after college. She goes over a lot of the things women in their 20s struggle with at the start of their careers. Topics covered are how to write a great resume / cover letter, interview skills, negotiating a promotion or raise, navigating career difficulties, and becoming a leader.

She covers a broad range of topics and that’s why I think this book is valuable. Not many women know how to properly negotiate for a pay raise or a promotion. That’s what holds so many of us back in our career fields. Invest in your career knowledge beyond just how to apply for a job and building skills to do your job well.

Start gaining the knowledge on how to advocate for yourself and negotiate. You could potentially be making so much more money if you weren’t afraid to ask for more.

Building Confidence:

Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead

This book is relevant if you have ambitions to become a leader in your field or if you feel intimidated because you are one of the only women in a room. Women don’t raise their hands enough in a room full of men because much of the time men dominate conversations or women feel insecure like they are out of place.

At some point in your career, you’ll probably face this situation and how you react could influence the path for other women. It’s time more women step up and start leaning in to add their voice to the conversation. Apply for that job where you meet at least 60% of the requirements. Ask for that raise when you deserve it. Speak up.

Confidence will get you far in every aspect in your life. Confident people are not afraid to ask for what they want and they come prepared.

A book about confidence is one of the best books for a full glow up you can get. Confidence is the source of a glow up.
